Proof Mary King's Close is Haunted?

Further strong evidence of paranormal activity  has been found when an eerie ghostly figure was captured by the new infra-red static camera in Mary King's Close.  A clear ghostly image of a tall, heavy-set human figure standing in the door way of Mary King's reconstructed residence at the top of the Close was captured just after midnight on Saturday 10 May, after the 'Evening with Richard Felix' investigation had finished.

Since the camera was installed there has been a variety of what appear to be ghostly images and ‘orbs’ in some pictures, some standing alongside visitors!  However, the ghostly character that was captured at the weekend is the clearest to date.

Famous paranormal investigator Richard Felix, who owns Derby Gaol (a heritage visitor attraction) said: “The frightening thing about this picture is that it resembles so closely the ghost that I saw in Derby Gaol, a very hazy figure with no features, neither male nor female.  Dimensions appear to be right and the photo was taken at about 12 midnight when there was definitely no-one else in the Close at the time. Although I'm not a great believer in ghost photos I find this one very convincing."

Mark Turner, expert paranormal investigator from Ghost Finders Scotland attempted a scientific explanation of the image: "The infra red camera can pick up light the human eye cannot see.  The most successful results in paranormal research appear to come when filtering out all the other light, except infra-red, and this photograph clearly shows a figure appearing in the doorway."

Event Report - Friday May 9th - Dark Investigation, Saturday May 10th and 11th - Richard Felix & Ghost Finders Scotland Nights 1 & 2 - The Real Mary King's Close

A wide array of suspected phenomena was picked up during the three nights.

Chesney’s House

Three people reported the feeling of being touched or prodded. Four people reported hearing a voice from one of the corners of during an EVP experiment. A stone landed heavily on the floor near the toilet of Chesney’s House with nobody near this area at the time. EVP files that were recorded appear to be quite consistent with a loud, angry sounding voice being recorded on many occasions. This is also consistent with past reports of Mr Chesney’s state of mind. Among many other fascinating recordings, the words “get out” were recorded on 5 occasions in total and were in direct response to people asking if Mr Chesney was happy with our presence in his house. People also reported feeling cold sensations at various times. The EVP recordings on the third nights were excellent, coming through both louder and clearer than the previous two nights.

Windows Room

Two people felt unwell in the Windows Room house on separate nights. They both reported feelings of dizziness, nausea and light headedness. Two separate groups of people reported seeing the shadow of a figure moving across the doorway near the stairwell at the back of the Windows Room. People reported feeling ice cold and felt breezes blowing across them as if “someone was walking past”. Footsteps were heard close by.

Annie’s Room

People reported feeling ice cold and two people reported hearing a “child’s voice” emanating from Annie’s room whilst conducting a séance.

Plague Room

During the table tipping experiment, another table that was in the room started to creak. This gave the impression that our requests for the table to be physically moved were being heard, they were just moving the wrong table!
